I’m Horacio Fabian Greco, the person behind Merlintravel. This project brings together my experience in tourism, my connection to Italy and Argentina, and a lasting curiosity about the world.
The idea
Life has given me the opportunity to discover many places and encounter cultures, art and customs very different from one another. Those experiences have deepened my appreciation of the extraordinary diversity of our planet.
Merlintravel began with the idea of building an archive of countries I have visited and that have left a particular impression on me. It starts by bringing together their main places of interest, their history and their stories. Over time, I will add personal memories and experiences from individual destinations.
The guides introduce places to discover; I have visited many of them, while others I have yet to visit.
I imagine this site as a watercolour: a first impression that sparks curiosity and begins the dream of a journey. There is always more to discover beyond the picture.
Between Argentina and Italy
I was born in Argentina in 1970 and lived there until 1984, when my father decided to bring the family to “his” Italy. We settled in Assisi, the city of Saint Francis, where I attended secondary school.
In 1990, having turned twenty, I decided to return to Argentina on my own to work in the travel agency my father had founded. I joined the agency’s staff and learned the trade alongside my father. I stayed until 1997, when I chose to return to Italy and continue working alongside my father and sister.
I have now spent most of my life in Italy. Today I live in Bettona, in Umbria, not far from Assisi. Italy is the land of my father and ancestors, and it is the natural first chapter of Merlintravel.
A family profession
My father emigrated to Argentina in 1951. In 1968, he opened Euromar Turismo in La Plata. I joined the agency in 1990 and worked there until 1997. During those years, I obtained the Argentine qualification of Idóneo en Turismo and was entered in the Registro de Idóneos en Turismo.
My father had opened another travel agency in Italy in 1994. After returning in 1997, I continued my career there with him and my sister, and obtained my Italian professional qualification as a technical director of a travel and tourism agency.
I remained actively involved in the agency until 2018. I then stepped back from day-to-day work, continuing in a supporting role while also pursuing my longstanding interest in the US stock market.

Today
Today I work full-time creating financial content through Merlintrader, my bilingual English and Italian investment-analysis platform. My interest in US markets also led me to develop the runup biotech strategy on FinanzaOnline in 2017, under the username merlin8121.
Merlintravel is a separate project, dedicated to travel, places and their stories. It gives me a way to continue exploring and sharing the diversity that has shaped my life.
The first chapter leads through Italian regions, cities, villages and landscapes, with a closer look at Umbria and Assisi. Other countries will join the atlas over time, together with more personal recollections.
